The
Fifth Annual Greg Leiser Farms Gourd Art Festival & Gourd
Sale
May 19 and 20, 2007

and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM
If you have never been, then this is the year
to clear your schedule and make travel plans to attend, by
far, THE most hospitable gourd
art festival I have ever attended in California! And believe
me when I say that I have experienced many gourd art festivals
throughout California and across the country! The Leisers know
how to put on a festival that is so enjoyable and welcoming,
it is as if they are just throwing a huge gathering for the
gourd friends and guests.
You will
experience:
~ Gourd
Art, of course! Gourd artists from all over California
will be selling their exquisite gourd art. Vendors selling gourd
supplies and tools.
~ Free live demonstrations.
Get your questions answered and learn some new tips and techniques
from expert gourd artists!
~ Book signings.
Now this is a special treat! Be the first to get your hands
on some of the newest gourd books on the market!!! PLUS, you
will be able to have your copies signed by the authors themselves!
Betty Finch - The
Immortal Molded Gourds
Gail Hohlweg - For Gourds Sake
Ginger Summit and Jim Widess - Spirit
In The Gourd
~ A birdhouse
contest by the Robbins School. The students will make
over 90 gourd birdhouses as a school project, and they will
be judged and put on display during the festival. If you've
enjoyed reading Jasmin's Corner (see
previous Gourdzette issues), then you will thoroughly
enjoy seeing the vast amount of creativity from these children!
~ Billie's Horse
Painting. Back by popular demand will be Billie Pass.
You buy a small gourd, learn how to clean it and Billie will
paint a horse on it. "If you can hold it still, I can paint
a horse on it" says Billie!
~ Gourd Crafting
Corner. New to the festival! The theme this year will
be "Create a Gourd Birdhouse" under the guidance of
Patti Brown and Linda Chipman. They will teach children and
adults how to decorate gourd birdhouses. This is a drop in,
on going class. A $12.00 fee includes everything you will need
to complete this project. Great for gourd newbies and for those
of you who just can't get enough of gourd crafting!
~ Hay Rides.
Yep, you read that right! Now what trip to a farm would be complete
without a gourd ol' fashion hay ride around the gourd fields.
~ Gourd Art Classes.
Friday through Sunday, gourd classes are being offered by 5
outstanding gourd artists You must pre-register. Click
here to view the class schedule, prices, details, and of
course, to register!
~ Festival Discount
on Gourds. Greg Leiser Farms will be selling gourds
at a festival discount, including thousands of gourds from their
new crop. Now that alone is worth the trip!
~ Food &
Drinks. You will be hungry! With so many things to
do, you will work up an appetite. And lo & behold, there
will be food service and a picnic area available to satisfy
your hunger and quench your thirst!
This festival is a wonderful opportunity for show and tell,
or just visit and share gourd ideas. The Leiser Festival is
known as the "Friendly Festival" by many gourd artists
(see, it's not just my opinion) and is located along
the beautiful Sacramento River. You owe it to yourself to attend!
